Alvaro Rodriguez Badel from Colombia is the first Artist-in-Science resident at Kultur einer Digitalstadt. For seven weeks he will live in the Atelierhaus LEW1 on the Rosenhöhe to work on his project together with hessian.AI.
On July 1st we will open the Atelierhaus LEW1 for an Open Lab and are looking forward to your visit!
Alvaro is a media artist. The extreme biodiversity in Colombia and the resulting magic of nature have strongly influenced his work. As a result, his work focuses on trying to represent nature through digital techniques and media. Despite his degree in Fine Arts (Universidad de los Andes, Bogota), Badel considers himself essentially self-taught in his work with new media. He playfully explores new ways to represent the world around him. He mainly uses photogrammetric shooting techniques and creates three-dimensional images with AI-based montage programs. In his work, moments of irritation and surprise excite him. For example, he creates large-format prints, machine-generated drawings, video installations, or 3D-printed sculptures that inspire the viewer to perceive nature in a new way.
