The Hessian Centre for Artificial Intelligence hessian.AI, which is organisationally located at the TU Darmstadt, pursues the goal of achieving effects across the entire spectrum of science, industry and society based on top AI research. The BMBF is funding the establishment of one of four AI service centres nationwide in the coming years.

Head (f/m/d) of the AI Service Centre hessian.AISC

initially limited until 31.12.2025.

As the head of the KI Service Centre, you are the first contact person for professional concerns and questions within the centre and represent it internally and externally. You will play a key role in the development of the portfolio, the maintenance and expansion of its service offerings and have professional and disciplinary responsibility for its employees. They identify interesting partners and projects, support the use and development of AI services with a high level of practical relevance and develop projects in the areas of science, R&D and transfer in close cooperation with researchers and users. The focus of your work is the conceptual development, operation and further development of the centre.

You are interested in building infrastructures for science and research-related services, have experience in leading teams and appreciate a research-oriented, dynamic environment in the field of interdisciplinary AI activities. You enjoy learning and sharing your expertise. Your profile

• You have a completed academic university degree at diploma or master’s level, ideally in an AI-related field, or an equivalent qualification.
• You have experience in setting up and operating research-related infrastructures and services.
• You are motivational and experienced in leadership in a dynamically growing, agile environment.
• You bring extensive experience in the implementation of digital projects, preferably at the interface of research and application.
• Ideally, you have good knowledge of Python, Linux and scripting languages and practical experience in the implementation of Deep Learning/Machine Learning applications based on PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar.
• You bring a hands-on mentality and are motivated to deal with complex concepts and techniques and to continuously develop yourself in these areas. You show initiative, team spirit and creativity.
• You have a creative drive and enjoy working in a dynamic, science-oriented and interdisciplinary environment.
• You have a good command of written and spoken German and English.
