In the Department of Computer Science at TU Darmstadt, the newly established Research Group of Multimodal Grounded Learning of Prof. Dr. Anna Rohrbach is looking to fill three positions as soon as possible.

Research Assistants (all genders) in Multimodal AI

for a period of three years. An extension is possible in principle.

The Research Group of Multimodal Grounded Learning conducts basic research at the intersection of different modalities, in particular images, videos, and language. Current research focuses on developing and researching AI models that have similar capabilities to humans: Multimodal AI should be able to communicate with humans, be grounded in reality, and learn from language. This should lead to a more human-centric, effective, and trustworthy multimodal AI.

The positions focus on the following research topics:

• Grounded Multimodal Models
• Explainable and Advisable AI
• Automatic Image and Video Description

The tasks also include scientific services in research and teaching. The opportunity for a doctorate is given – including intensive doctoral supervision.

Your profile:

• Very good university degree (Master’s) in computer science or a comparable subject.
• Knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence / machine learning, experience in computer vision, natural language processing or multimodal learning is advantageous.
• Very good programming experience, practical experience with PyTorch or comparable deep learning frameworks is advantageous.
• Very good written and oral English skills.
• You are highly motivated to publish your results and present them at international project meetings and conferences. Existing publications are advantageous.
• You have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in interdisciplinary and international teams.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team in a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment, as well as a high level of motivation and initiative.
