DeepGolf is a smart golf training app that uses Apple Watch sensors to analyze your swing and provide real-time feedback. It helps amateur golfers improve their game with personalized insights, rhythm analysis, and data-driven training. The app has been in development since March 2024 and is now available in the App Store.
The idea for DeepGolf originated from Jonas’ master’s thesis, where he explored how wearable technology could analyze and improve golf swings. Our biggest challenges were developing accurate swing detection using Apple Watch sensors, ensuring reliable real-time feedback, and making the app intuitive for golfers of all skill levels. Overcoming these technical and usability hurdles has been key to turning DeepGolf from an academic project into a real-world training tool.
DeepGolf uses the motion sensors in your Apple Watch to track and analyze your golf swing in real time. The app captures key swing metrics such as backswing and downswing timing, rhythm and many more. Based on this data, DeepGolf provides instant feedback and personalized training insights to help you refine your technique and improve your game over time.
The sports technology market, especially in golf, comes with some key challenges. Many amateur golfers hesitate to adopt new technology, sometimes due to cost, but often because raw data alone doesn’t help them improve. Without the right guidance, numbers and stats can feel overwhelming or meaningless. That’s why it’s essential to provide clear, actionable insights that golfers can actually use to refine their game.
Another big challenge is trust, players need to believe in the accuracy of the analysis and the value of the feedback. If they don’t see real improvement, they won’t stay engaged. Long-term motivation is crucial, which is why DeepGolf focuses on progress tracking and gamification. By keeping training both structured and rewarding, we help golfers stay committed and continuously improve.
DeepGolf is designed for amateur golfers who want to improve their swing using smart, data-driven insights. The app is ideal for players who may not have regular access to a coach but still want to track their progress and refine their technique. It’s also valuable for tech-savvy golfers who enjoy analyzing their performance and using digital tools to optimize their training.
Whether you’re a weekend golfer looking to get more consistency in your game or an ambitious player striving for lower scores, DeepGolf helps you train smarter and stay motivated.
Our main goal for this year is to continue to improve DeepGolf and make the user experience even more intuitive and effective for our users. This includes not only continuously developing the app’s features, but also gathering feedback from real users to ensure we create a product that meets the needs of amateur golfers. We also want to grow our user base and increase awareness of DeepGolf.
In five years, we see DeepGolf as one of the leading platforms for digital golf training. Our vision is to support a broad community of golfers worldwide – both beginners and experienced players – by helping them to continuously improve their performance with advanced technology. We strive to be the first choice for golfers who want to train data-driven, with tailored analytics and personalized recommendations. In addition, we want to further integrate our app with other devices and platforms to offer an even more comprehensive training solution.
