Alfried Krupp Award for hessian.AI computer scientist Georgia Chalvatzaki

The Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation has awarded computer scientist Prof. Dr. Georgia Chalvatzaki the Alfried Krupp Award 2025 – one of Germany’s most prestigious scientific awards. The 37-year-old researcher has been Professor of Interactive Robot Perception and Learning at the Department of Computer Science at the Technical University Darmstadt since 2023. The Alfried Krupp Advancement Award is endowed with 1.1 million euros.

Prof. Ursula Gather, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Krupp Foundation, highlighted Georgia Chalvatzaki’s scientific achievements in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-robot cooperation: “With her innovative approach, she views robots and humans, as well as their environment, as an integrated system with the aim of developing robots that learn from experience and continuously adapt their behavior. Her scientific findings have the potential to have an effective impact in areas such as healthcare, logistics, and sustainable agriculture. The Krupp Foundation is delighted to accompany Georgia Chalvatzaki on her further scientific journey.”

Prof. Dr. Georgia Chalvatzaki researches robots that can learn in real time from interacting with their environment and humans. This approach is considered groundbreaking for human-centered robotics and opens up new perspectives for the next generation of robots.
