Note: Additional information may be requested during the review process. If no response is received within two weeks after requesting more details, the application will be closed, and you will need to start a new one.
Note: Please note that projects are initially approved for a period of three months. After this period, a review will be conducted to determine whether further compute resources can be allocated.

Step 1: Fill out the application form
This step outlines the details we require from you to complete the application process.
Section 1: Basic Information
The basic information serves as an overview of your application and specifies our first contact person for further communication.
Project Title: Enter your project title. This should be concise and make it easy to identify your project.
Institution Details: Provide your organization’s name, department, and contact information.
Project Classification: Please select the appropriate project type and specify the tasks you are looking forward to performing on the cluster to help us better understand your project needs.
Project Leader: Fill in the project leader’s name and contact details.
Ensure the project leader is responsible for administrative tasks such as distributing and supervising the granted logins and resources.
Section 2: Project Details
The project details describe your project and your requirements to ensure that all requirements can be met and to decide on your application.
Project Abstract Please provide a project abstract in English (300–2,500 characters). This abstract will be published on the hessian.AI website to showcase ongoing work. Your abstract will be evaluated based on:
Relevance and clarity of the project’s context and content
Clear goals and approach
Expected outcomes and their potential impact (research, society, or economy)
Scalability of your results
Clear success criteria
Preliminary Work & Expertise Kindly summarize relevant prior work, such as publications, research papers, proof of concept, or related thesis. Also, briefly outline your expertise in the project’s domain.

Number of GPUs required
Storage needs (in TB)
Any special requirements we should be aware of
Support & Consulting Do you require any form of support or consultation during the project? If yes, please specify the areas where assistance would be valuable.
Section 3: Accounts for Team Members
Please specify all team members that need to gain access to the compute infrastructure.
TU-IDs: If you or your team members are not affiliated with TU Darmstadt, we are happy to assist by creating a TU-ID for each of you. To facilitate this process, kindly provide the project end dates for each team member, as these IDs will be issued with corresponding expiry dates.
Contact Information: Please provide the cell phone numbers for all users. This information is necessary as we send login credentials via SMS, ensuring that everyone can access their accounts efficiently.
Section 4: Important Note on Compliance Agreement
Before proceeding, please ensure that you have reviewed and agree to the following compliance requirements:
Information Updates: You will inform hessian.AI of any changes to the information provided.
EC Dual Use Regulation: You verify that the project results are not subject to the EC Dual Use Regulation.
Funding Acknowledgment: You will include the funding acknowledgment (specified above) in all publications and results generated within this project.
Final Survey Participation: You agree to participate in the final survey at the end of the project and in all interim surveys to help improve hessian.AI’s services.
Step 2: Internal Technical & Scope Review
After receiving your application, our team will carefully carry out a technical review to assess the feasibility of your request. This includes reviewing your project’s resource needs in relation to the current cluster usage and availability.
If the necessary resources are available, your application will proceed to the decision phase. Should we require any further information during this process, we will kindly reach out to you.
Step 3: Decision
After the technical review, your application will be evaluated based on the requested number of GPUs and the project duration:
If your project requires 30 GPUs or fewer and has a duration of less than 2 months, the decision will be made by the hessian.AI team.
If your project requires more than 30 GPUs or runs for a duration longer than 2 months, it will be reviewed by our Scientific Advisory Board, consisting of five board members.
Please note that applications at this stage might take more time due to the detailed evaluation process. We appreciate your patience and will reach out to you if any further information is needed.
Step 4 (If Approved): Account Setup
Upon approval, we’ll begin setting up user accounts and assigning the necessary resources to support your project.

Once your accounts are set up, you’ll receive onboarding support to help you and your team get started with using the cluster effectively. We look forward to working with you and supporting your project!

Please follow these steps to complete your application
Step 1: Principal Investigator Information and Employee Details
Personal Details: Provide all necessary personal details. Please ensure you use the email associated with your organization or hessian.AI.
TU-ID Expiry Date: Enter the TU-ID expiry date (e.g., 1.9.2024).
Note: If you are a non-TUDa PI and don’t have a TU-ID, we will create one for you and your employees. Please also provide the contract end dates for your employees, as TU-IDs will be created with expiry dates.
Note: Ensure phone numbers are correct, as login credentials will be sent via SMS.
Additional Employees: If you have more than 5 employees, please submit an additional application to include their details.
Step 2: Confirmation and Submission
Confirmation: Confirm that all the details you have provided are correct. Agree to notify hessian.AI if any user no longer needs access to the cluster.
Submit Application: Review the information you’ve entered. Once confirmed, click “Send” (Submit) to send your application.
