Federal funding for hessian.AI Service Center until 2027

Second phase strengthens AI service with H100 GPUs, training, and practical transfer

Artificial intelligence is an indispensable driver of innovation for many industrial and service sectors. However, access to powerful AI infrastructure and the latest research findings remains a challenge for many start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises. The hessian.AISC (hessian.AI Service Center), one of four nationally funded AI service centers, is closing this gap. The second funding phase has now been approved by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) until 2027.

Bridge between cutting-edge research and practice

The hessian.AISC makes AI technology available where it is needed: in business, at startups, and in scientific institutions. With high-performance computers such as forty.TWO and forty.THREE, the center provides 632 Nvidia A100 80 GB and 280 Nvidia H100 80 GB of computing capacity. In addition, it offers customized consulting services, training programs, and direct access to research results from the so-called third wave of AI—a generation of AI systems that are more robust, secure, and efficient.

Training, cooperation, and research transfer

Since its launch at the end of 2022, hessian.AISC has been driving forward the transfer from research to application. The center offers a three-stage training program for beginners, users, and experts, and conducted 18 live training courses in 2025 alone. Cooperation projects with the Städel Frankfurt, the Senckenberg Museum, Avemio AG, Dianovi, Fraunhofer SIT, and LAION demonstrate the breadth of application areas. The center’s research work is reflected in 38 publications, including 11 publications and 12 models.
The second funding phase will now enable the services to be further expanded and “AI made in Germany” to be strengthened. By 2027, new fields of application will be developed and existing offerings expanded.

AI as an investment in the future

As part of its high-tech agenda, Germany is pursuing the ambitious goal of generating around ten percent of its economic output through AI-based innovations by 2030. AI is not only intended to increase efficiency, but also to provide decisive impetus in future-oriented industries such as medicine, mobility, energy, and production. Germany is thus positioning itself in international competition with a clear focus on sustainability, responsibility, and a human-centered approach.

The hessian.AISC is a central component of this strategy: it connects research, industry, and the start-up scene, facilitates knowledge transfer, and helps turn scientific findings into marketable solutions. The result should be greater innovative strength, competitiveness, and a strong digital future in Germany.
