Hamed Shariat Yazdi

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hamed Shariat Yazdi is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Smart Cities at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. His career spans both academia and industry, bridging cutting-edge research with the practical application of AI technologies. Previously, he served as the Group Leader of the Knowledge Graph Analysis Research Group at the University of Bonn, where he advanced machine learning over heterogeneous connected data and knowledge graphs. During his time there, he (co-)supervised several PhD students and taught various M.Sc. courses within the computer science program. Additionally, he successfully secured research and project funding from prominent organizations, including the European Commission, as well as securing PhD funds for his students.

Prof. Shariat Yazdi earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Siegen, Germany, with “Summa Cum Laude mit Auszeichnung” honors. He also holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Applied Mathematics. His academic work has been recognized through awards, and his research has been published in prestigious venues, such as the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.

In industry, he worked as a Senior AI Scientist and AI Technical Consultant at Fujitsu-Germany GmbH, headquartered in Munich. Fujitsu, a global leader in information and communication technology (ICT), entrusted him with leading and developing a variety of AI projects as well as in Applied Quantum Computing. Prior to joining Fujitsu, he worked at IAV GmbH, a leading engineering services provider in the automotive sector, where he contributed to the development of AI-driven solutions and software systems for major global automotive companies.
