Prof. Dr. Lucas Böttcher works as an Assistant Professor of Computational Science at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, and also hold a Courtesy Professorship in the Laboratory of Systems Medicine at the University of Florida.

His research utilizes and develops advanced numerical and analytical methods to tackle different challenges in the physical and biological sciences.

He is also interested in addressing fundamental questions in applied and computational mathematics, statistical mechanics, and machine learning. In his current research work, He focuses on modeling and control of high-dimensional stochastic processes and dynamical systems, developing network analysis methods, and developing data assimilation approaches to combine mechanistic models and empirical data.

His research has been recognized by major media outlets and stations, including the Wall Street Journal, Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Collection of the American Physical Society, ETH, UCLA and Caltech news, and KPCC’s AirTalk with Larry Mantle.
