hessian.AI Co-Director Professor Mira Mezini Recognized as an ACM Fellow
Professor Mira Mezini, head of the Software Technology research group in the Department of Computer Science at TU Darmstadt, has been named an ACM Fellow. With this honor, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) recognizes the best among its more than 100,000 members worldwide for their outstanding contributions to computer science. Only one percent of ACM members are awarded the title of ACM Fellow.
The ACM is the oldest and largest professional society in the field of computer science. It promotes the development of new technologies, organizes international conferences, and presents prestigious awards. Being named an ACM Fellow is considered one of the highest honors in computer science, reflecting the honoree’s influence and impact on the field.
Mezini’s research focuses on programming languages and software engineering, with a particular emphasis on the development of intelligent software systems. She was among the first scientists to use machine learning for the automatic completion of program code, paving new paths in software development.
Mira Mezini has received numerous awards for her scientific achievements, including an ERC Advanced Grant and recognition from IBM, Google, and the Horst Görtz Foundation. Since 2016, she has been a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), and since 2024, a member of the Academia Europaea.
In addition to her research, Mezini significantly shapes the scientific landscape through numerous leadership roles. She is Co-Director of the Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence (hessian.AI) and a board member of the National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity ATHENE.
