New article of the series “Hesse’s AI pioneers”: Robotics, Manufacturing & Engineering

As part of the article series “Hessen’s AI pioneers”, a cooperation between hessian.AI | AI Startup Rising, the Frankfurt media platform STATION, and EDITH, innovative startups from the AI Startup Landscape Hessen (2024) are regularly presented. This map not only highlights the potential and industry trends in the field of artificial intelligence, but also underlines the innovative strength of the Hessian AI ecosystem. The landscape (2024) currently includes 166 innovative startups from twelve industry clusters, which have already raised a total of 155 million euros in investment. The next edition with extensive data analysis will be published in september 2025.

The current article on STATION focuses on the “Robotics, Manufacturing & Engineering” cluster – one of the largest clusters in the AI Startup Landscape with 17 startups. Two outstanding examples are Energy Robotics and Tvarit, whose AI solutions address complex challenges in industry and set new standards.

Energy Robotics: Autonomous inspections for critical infrastructures

Since it was founded in 2019, Darmstadt-based startup Energy Robotics has become one of the leading providers of autonomous inspection solutions with around 70 employees and an international customer portfolio. Energy Robotics’ AI software enables the complete automation of inspection rounds in safety-critical infrastructure such as refineries, oil and gas plants and power stations. The data collected is intelligently evaluated and integrated directly into the customer’s control systems. Customers already include six of the ten largest oil and gas companies in the world. Energy Robotics is exemplary for the digitalization and automation of expert knowledge and thus also addresses the shortage of skilled workers in the industry.

Tvarit: AI-Driven Process Optimization for Sustainable Manufacturing

The Frankfurt-based startup Tvarit offers data-driven optimization of industrial manufacturing processes through its AI platform TiA®, with a particular focus on the metal and process industries. The platform analyzes production data in real time, minimizes scrap, prevents quality deviations, and reduces both material and energy losses. Tvarit combines statistical data analysis with domain-specific expert knowledge and has already established itself across multiple sectors—from the automotive to the chemical industry. The company is expanding internationally and pursues the vision of a resource-efficient, sustainable industrial future.

Both startups are supported by Futury Capital, an investor focused on emerging tech companies.

Other exciting startups from the cluster include Persival, Compredict, Core Sensing, and Ceres FieldCheck.

The AI Startup Landscape Hesse is an initiative by hessian.AI | AI Startup Rising and is continuously developed in collaboration with numerous partners.
